Southwest Monsoon season has finally bid farewell, Konkan and Goa and Madhya Maharashtra were rain surplus while Marathwada and Vidarbha were rain deficient. Presently scattered light rains have been occurring over South Konkan and Goa and South Madhya Maharashtra.

On and off thundershower activities are also being observed over Vidarbha region. In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Tuesday, Sholapur witnessed 3.8 mm of rain, Mahabaleshwar 2.6 mm, Vengurla 0.8 mm and Kolhapur 0.1 mm of rains only. Remaining parts of the state remained dry.
As per Skymet Weather, scattered rain is likely to continue over south Madhya Maharashtra and adjoining Konkan and Goa for the next 24 hours, thereafter, scattered light rain may also commence over Vidarbha and Marathwada. By October 7, rain intensity may increase slightly and it is anticipated that light to moderate rain may occur over parts of Marathwada, Madhya Maharashtra as well as Konkan and Goa.

Meanwhile, light showers will continue over Vidarbha region also. These on and off rains are expected to continue till October 11. Places such as Kolhapur, Nashik, Nagpur, Pune, Mumbai, and Aurangabad will witness short spells of light to moderate rain.
Thereafter, weather will once again become dry. This may be the last good rain spell over Maharashtra during this season. These showers can be attributed to a trough which is likely to form from central parts of Uttar Pradesh to Konkan and Goa across Madhya Pradesh and Madhya Maharashtra.
