Rain likely over Gangetic West Bengal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Odisha

Presently, the weather has become dry over the entire Northwest India and most parts of Central India. However, at the same time, rain intensity has increased over East Coast of the country, right from Gangetic West Bengal to Andhra Pradesh coast including Odisha. Although rains are subdued over areas of Coastal Tamil Nadu, parts of Interior Tamil Nadu are receiving scattered rains.

Currently, a Cyclonic Circulation has moved over Southeast Bay of Bengal from Andaman Sea. It will come closer to the coast and moderate northeasterly winds from Bay of Bengal will continue over Odisha and Andhra Coast. Therefore, we expect light to moderate rain activities to continue over coastal districts of Andhra as well as over Gangetic West Bengal.

Isolated light rains are also expected to occur over Tamil Nadu coast but the intensity and spread will be much more over the interior parts. Rain intensity will decrease over all these places after three to four days but on and off rains will continue thereafter as well, although with a reduced intensity.

In the next upcoming days, weather over these areas is likely to remain cloudy. There will be some relief during the daytime due to persistent cloud cover and patchy rains.
