From the past two to three days, fairly widespread rain and thundershower activities have bee lashing entire plains of North India, particularly in Punjab, Haryana and West Uttar Pradesh.

Also, during the last 24 hours, as had been forecast by Skymet Weather, the region of Delhi and NCR have been experiencing fairly widespread rain and thundershowers accompanied by hailstorm activities.

However, in the wake of fairly widespread rain, thundershowers are hailstorm activities associated with lightning strikes, which have lead to widespread damage to standing crops in many parts of Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.

The maximums observed a fall by five to six degrees at many places, while a few places n the plain of North India also observed drop by three to four degrees in the maximums.

At present, the Western Disturbance has moved away and the cyclonic circulation that was persisting over Punjab and Haryana has faded away. With this, a trough was also extending up to Uttar Pradesh that has faded away at present.

In the absence of any significant weather system, we do not expect any weather activity in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and North Rajasthan from today onwards. The maximums are however expected to rise.

Isolated light rain to occur today as well at a few places in the western parts of Uttar Pradesh is a forecast as per Skymet Weather.

Thereafter, i.e. from March 16 onwards, the weather will become clear. For the coming week or so, we do not expect any significant weather activity over the Northern plains.
