Rain likely in Jharkhand; Bihar to wait for a week for rains

The neighboring states of Bihar and Jharkhand experienced the first rainy spell of the month on March 4 and 5. Barring the foothills, these rains covered almost the entire Bihar and Jharkhand. In fact, rains remained far and few for both the regions in the month of February as well.

Since, then, the weather has remained dry which resulted in a slight rise in the temperatures profile across both the states. While the adjoining state of Odisha and central parts of the country were facing heatwave like conditions yesterday, temperatures in both Bihar and Jharkhand were close to the normal levels.

The maximums in Bihar was ranging have been between 30°C and 32°C and in Jharkhand, it settled between 32°C and 34°C. The minimums across the regions settled in teens.

As per Skymet Weather, no weather activity is expected over the regions for the next 2 days and both Bihar and Jharkhand are expected to continue to reel under dry weather conditions.

Thereafter, parts of Jharkhand, particularly, the stations of southern region are expected to witness some rain and thundershowers between March 10 and 12. However, these rain and thundershowers would escape Bihar and the state would have to wait for more than a week to get any rains that are not anticipated before March 17.

In general, also, the eastern pocket of the country witnesses most of the rain and thunderstorm activities during the pre-Monsoon season that happens in the month of March, peaking in May. Wherein, the month of May is the month of a number of thunderstorms, lightning, and speedy winds.

Also termed as ‘Kaal Baisakhi’, this is the time when the frequency, intensity, and movement of the thunderstorm activities is high. In fact, this is a crucial time for the aviation sector of this pocket as well.
