According to the latest weather update, Skymet Satellite images locate a fresh Western Disturbance over Afghanistan and adjoining areas of northwest Pakistan. The weather system is expected to close in over Jammu & Kashmir during the next 24 hours. Change of winds from northerly to southerly and chances of rain in different parts of the Western Himalayan region are foreseen on Saturday and Sunday.
According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, places that would be cloudy and receive rain during the period will be Srinagar and Jammu in Jammu & Kashmir, Kullu, Keylong, Dharmsala and Shimla in Himachal Pradesh. Higher reaches could also receive some snowfall. The weather would really be pleasant and soothing for those visiting tourist destinations and religious places like Vaishno Devi in these parts.
Meanwhile, the weather in northwest plains, Indo-Gangetic plains, Central India and southern peninsula would be equally hot as compared to last week. The Western Disturbance is unlikely to affect the weather much in the northwest plains but some clouds and thunderstorm may be observed in parts of Punjab, Haryana and west Uttar Pradesh on Sunday. But they will not be helpful in pulling down the temperatures.
East Uttar Pradesh and Bihar in East India will be at the receiving end of the warm northwesterly winds that will force the day temperatures in Lucknow, Kanpur, Allahabad, Varanasi and Patna to rise and settle in the higher thirties for the next two days.
Central India will also heat up with places like Gwalior, Indore, Bhopal, Jabalpur and Raipur observing day temperatures close to 40°C on Saturday and Sunday. East central parts of the region like Odisha and Chhattisgarh have observed drop in temperatures due to rain and clouds on Thursday. Due to the mixing of dry and moist winds, rain is still expected in some parts of Odisha in the next 48 hours. Maharashtra in central peninsular region will also witness a rise in day temperature during this period.
Moving on to South India, Rayalaseema and Telangana in Andhra Pradesh and north interior Karantaka will again witness temperatures settling in the forties. The mixing of hot and dry land winds would also give showers in some places but that would not make much difference to the maximum temperatures. Pre-monsoon rain will continue in coastal areas of Kerala and Tamil Nadu in extreme peninsular region.
