Monsoon showers are likely to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Ara and Saharsa districts of Bihar on Tuesday. This visit is touted as a crucial one as Narendra Modi is expected to announce Rs 50,000 crore development package for the poll bound state.

Modi is scheduled to launch 11 highway projects worth Rs 6200 crore connecting Patna and Buxar in Ara district. Later in the day, he will be addressing a public rally in Saharsa located in the flood-prone Kosi region.

According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, light to moderate rain along with thundershower activities are likely over Ara and Saharsa districts of Bihar.

At present, both the districts are witnessing cloudy weather with high levels of humidity. State authorities have already made appropriate arrangements for any erratic weather activity.

Bihar that is going to Assembly polls later this year has over 8,500 km of National Highways and State Highways. The state is also part of Golden Quadrilateral route that includes areas of Mohania, Sasaram, Aurangabad, Sherghati and Bhaluachatti.

As per the government's flagship road building programme, National Highways Development Project - III, it has recognized 1015 kms of National Highways for upgradation to Super Highways. This is under Build, Operate and Transfer Scheme that is also providing additional corridors to Nepal and Assam.

Reportedly, a four-lane high speed corridor is under construction by National Highways Authority of India.
