Rain likely during Auto Expo

February 5, 2014 3:07 PM |

After witnessing the worst year of sales (2013), the Auto Expo 2014 is expected to bring cheer for auto companies, who are all set to launch their best. Auto fans can’t wait either for the seven day razzmatazz which this year will be held not in the capital city due to lack of space, but in a city which has recently turned global on the map, Greater Noida. This year the event will be spread over almost 70,000 square meters and an additional outdoor space of 18,000 sqm will be used for various activities during the Auto Expo 2014. But forecast of a rainy weather is giving jitters to the organisers.

Weather Forecast

Here’s Skymet’s weather forecast for Noida during the event - “We had predicted rain in Delhi and NCR from the 5th of February onwards which turned out to be right. The weather is expected to remain the same for the next two days. We are also expecting the intensity of rain to increase on the 6th and the 7th which may restrict people from visiting the Auto Expo on the first day”, says a senior meteorologist at Skymet.

However, with rain reducing from Friday evening onwards and a clear weather forecast thereafter, the number of people turning out on the weekend will make up for the less turnout of fans on Friday.

The Auto Expo 2014 will start on the 5th of February but will open for public from the 7th till the 11th of February. About of 75,000 to 1 lakh visitors are expected every day at the Auto Expo.

Outdoor events

The Auto Expo will be housing over 55 companies like Mercedes, BMW, Toyota, Fiat, Maruti Suzuki, Renault, Hyundai Motors, Ford India, Bajaj Auto and Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M), which would be unveiling  70 new vehicles, including 26 foreign makes.

This year outdoor spaces have been prepared to pull crowds through leisure sports and activities like motorcycle driving training, safety driving tips, torture tracks, display of vintage cars, superbikes and go carting. And for foodies, there will be sixty food stalls serving Indian and continental buffets day and night.

Free shuttle buses from select Metro stations in Noida and various other strategic locations in Delhi will be made available for the Auto Expo.  Other arrangements undertaken for the convenience of the people are special road patrolling, ambulances, cranes and fire-fighting apparatus.
