The Western Himalayan region over Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh and its adjoining areas of northwest plains especially Punjab, Haryana and Delhi would continue to witness rain during the next two days.

According to the latest weather update by Skymet Meteorology Division in India, the ongoing Western Disturbance over Jammu & Kashmir that gave rain in the last 24 hours at some of the places in the region would move away while another Western Disturbance that lies over Afghanistan and adjoining areas of north Pakistan would keep the weather rainy and cloudy in the region.

So day temperatures in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, north Madhya Pradesh and west Uttar Pradesh will remain below normal till the weather system stays over Jammu & Kashmir. Night temperature however, will be a little higher than the normal due to southeasterly winds.

In East India, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim will observe rain at isolated places, while Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Nagaland in Northeast India will also witness rain due to a cyclonic circulation that is fetching moisture from the Bay of Bengal. Temperatures in East India will remain above 35°C in places like Allahabad, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Patna and Kolkata.

In South India, interiors would continue to swelter under heat as temperatures are settling in the late thirties. Kurnool recorded the highest maximum temperature of 40.4°C on Wednesday. Due to southeasterly winds, some clouds may provide relief from the scorching heat.
