Pre-Monsoon season has remained pretty satisfactory for the eastern states of the country particularly Bihar. On and off showers had always made its presence over Bihar since April. In fact, the northern and northeastern region of the state have been privileged enough to witness good rains in the last 24- 48 hours as well.
Though along with rain and thundershowers, hailstorms and heavy squalls with lightning strikes have also been reported in parts of the state.

As per Skymet Weather, these rain and hailstorms along with heavy squalls and lightning is expected to continue for the next 24 hours over most of the north and northeastern parts of the state that includes the districts like Supaul, Araria, Purnia and Kalyan. Whereas districts like Patna, and Gaya may have to settle with light rain and thundershowers only.
The reason for these rain, thundershowers along with hailstorm and lightning strikes can be attributed to a trough which is extending from East Uttar Pradesh to Arunachal Pradesh across North Bihar and North West Bengal. Another trough is seen extending from North Bihar to Odisha.
Moreover, 24 hours henceforth, rain intensity is likely to decline and the weather will start improving though light rains are still expected to continue at a few parts of the state.
Skymet Weather further reiterates that Bihar is considered to be a lightning-prone state and thus in the view of this, the disaster management department has to take extra precautions in order to battle any lightning strike mishap. In the recent past, the state disaster management authority had even issued a severe lightning alert in various districts of the state after lightning strikes claimed 15 lives in several districts across the state.
