Rain intensity to reduce over Northeast India, temperatures to rise

Northeast India had been recording good pre-Monsoon rains since last many days. However, during the past day, the intensity of rain decreased over many states. Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura recorded isolated pre Monsoon rains only. In fact, Nagaland witnessed complete dry weather conditions. Meanwhile, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya recorded good rainfall activity.

In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Dibrugarh recorded rain to the tune of 15 mm, North Lakhimpur 8 mm, Kailashahar 3 mm, Pet Jorhat and Cherrapunji 2 mm and Guwahati and Pasighat 1 mm of rains.

As per Skymet Weather, a cyclonic circulation is over West Assam and adjoining Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and a trough is extending from this system to up the Southern Peninsula. In fact, the remnants of the Western Disturbance are moving slowly across the upper regions of Arunachal Pradesh.

It is anticipated that pre-Monsoon rains would continue to occur over Northeast India but with decreased intensity. Scattered rain and thundershower will continue to occur over Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh.  Meanwhile, isolated activity is expected over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.

In the wake of the decreased rainfall activity, the temperatures are likely to rise over Northeast India. In fact, the plains of the states may become humid during the daytime. Meanwhile, the weather during the morning and night hours will remain pleasant across all the regions.
