Northeast Monsoon has remained subdued over the entire southern Peninsular India. So much so that the region has been witnessing almost dry weather conditions with drought like conditions over almost entire region.

However, good news is in store for the residents of southern parts of Tamil Nadu as rainfall intensity is all set to increase during the next 24 to 48 hours. South Tamil Nadu has been receiving some rains for the past few days as well.

Now, good rains are in sight for the region in the coming days. These weather conditions will be attributed to the potential low pressure area which is expected to form in the Southwest Bay of Bengal off the Sri Lanka coast. This system will be formed under the influence of a trough of low which is persisting over equatorial Indian Ocean and adjoining south Bay of Bengal.

While good rains are likely over the southern parts, the northern parts of Tamil will continue to witness dry weather conditions. In fact, the capital city of Tamil Nadu, Chennai which also lies in the northern region will remain dry. The city has received very little rains during this season.
