It’s been raining in the southern state of Karnataka since the last few days now. Moreover, in the last 24 hours, flooding rains have been experienced in multiple areas of the state. In the last 24 hours, most parts of the coastal stations of Karnataka received very heavy rainfall. Also moderate to heavy spells were observed in the areas adjoining these coastal stations.
South Karnataka has also received light to moderate rains at scattered places. Scattered light rains were observed over North Karnataka as well.
At present, an off-shore Trough is extending from South Gujarat to Kerala coast. The system is likely to decrease its strength gradually. Thus, rain intensity is now likely to reduce over the state. The rainfall activity along the coast as well as the interior parts of Karnataka will also see a plunge.
However, the rains will keep continuing with a decreased intensity. In the next 24 hours, we expect moderate to heavy rainfall along the coast while scattered light rains might occur over South Karnataka and at a few places over North.
Rains will decrease further from most parts of Karnataka after 24 to 48 hours. The rains may enhance yet again on August 12.
