Cyclone Titli had caused heavy rainfall activity over the state of Andhra Pradesh. However, apart from that, the month of October has been a deficient one for Andhra Pradesh. Both Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema have recorded large deficiency of 61 and 81 percent, respectively.
During the last two to three days, rains have been lashing the state of Andhra Pradesh with some areas seeing good rains as well. In fact, the last 24 hours have seen some heavy rains lashing the state.
During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Machilipatnam saw a whopping 57 mm of rains, Kakinada observed 43 mm of rainfall, Tuni 30 mm, Narsapur 27 mm, Visakhapatnam 12 mm, and 0.5 mm rains in Kalingapatnam. In fact, Tirupati also recorded 20 mm of rains.
These rains have been attributed to a trough, which has been running from Odisha along the Andhra Pradesh coast up to South Tamil Nadu. Thus, moisture incursion has been taking place over the state resulting in good rains.
Now, cities of Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam, Machilipatnam, Kurnool, Tirupati, Narsapur, Kakinada, Kalingapatnam will see good rains during the next 24 to 48 hours. Due to this, temperatures will also see a drop in these areas. However, rainfall deficiency will not see a drastic change and conditions will remain the same for some more time.
