In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Wednesday, isolated light rain and thundershower activities were witnessed in places like Nagpur of Vidarbha region of Maharashtra.
Now a confluence zone has developed over central parts of the country i.e. Vidarbha and Marathwada. Thus, northwesterly dry winds are merging with southwesterly humid winds from Bay of Bengal.
With the combined effect of all these weather systems, we expect rain and thundershowers to increase over parts of Vidarbha and Marathwada during the next 24 to 48 hours.
Today and tomorrow, we expect scattered light rainfall activity with one or two moderate spells. These rains will be patchy and for short duration only. However, they will help in decreasing the maximum temperatures to some extent.
On the other hand, these weather activities will be very beneficial for the farming sectors as presently, the soil in that region is very dry due to the ongoing heatwave like conditions.
After two days, we expect the confluence zone to shift over to Telangana. And then weather activities will vacate parts of Maharashtra and move over to Telangana region. This will result in dry weather conditions and subsequent rise in day temperatures.
At present heatwave conditions are prevailing over most parts of Central India including Vidarbha region. During the rainy period heatwave conditions may disappear for a while but after April 6, once again signficnat rise in maximums is likely.
