Rain in Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Alappuzha to continue

Rain in Kerala

Good rainfall activities have been occurring over the state of Kerala in the last 24 hours. The state had seen very heavy rains in view of the Cyclone Luban which further skirted towards Oman and will hit the region anytime now. Moreover, heavy rainfall activity had also occurred in some parts.

In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, the capital city of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram witnessed heavy rains of 52 mm, Punalur recorded 29 mm of rainfall, along with light rains over many parts including Alappuzha 4 mm, Kochi 1 mm and traces of rains in Karipur.

Presently there are several systems in and around the region which includes a trough extending from North Bay of Bengal from extreme South Tamil Nadu. Along with this, a Cyclonic circulation is also over South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu Coast. Due to these systems, moist winds have been reaching the state of Kerala giving rainfall over these areas.

Now, rainfall will continue over the state with the coastal areas of Kerala recording good rains. In fact, cities of Punalur, Kochi, Kozhikode, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Karipur, Thiruvananthapuram will see good rains.

These rains will not only continue for another 24 hours but increase thereafter as well.
