While Southwest Monsoon has picked up pace over several parts of the country, a few areas continue to witness dry weather conditions. Currently, active to vigorous Monsoon conditions are being observed over the entire West Coast.
Southwest Monsoon has already reached some parts of Gujarat and other areas of the state are craving for some Monsoon rains. During the last 24 hours, while most areas remained dry over Gujarat, Rajkot and Ahmedabad recorded traces of rain.
A cyclonic circulation formed in the Arabian Sea a while ago. Now, this system has shifted and is currently over South Gujarat Coast and adjoining North Konkan Coast. Also, the off shore Monsoon trough along the West Coast is also likely to become more active in the coming days.
The combined effects of these systems will result in some rainfall activity over coastal areas of Gujarat during the next 24 to 48 hours. Cities including Ahmedabad, Surat, and Valsad may receive some rains during this period.
However, the Kutch region will remain dry during this period. Conditions are favourable for the onset of Southwest Monsoon over some more parts of Gujarat during the next four to five days.
