The weather in most parts of Tamil Nadu has been warm for a while. The coast, in particular, has been observing warm and humid conditions. However, in the last 24 hours, the southeast coast of the state received scattered light rainfall.
According to the rainfall data available with Skymet, Kanyakumari received 10 mm of rain while light rain was observed in Palayamkottai, Tondi and Madurai. The rainfall activity in the region is due to moderate intensity warm and moist northeasterly winds.
Looking at the weather models at Skymet, senior meteorologists forecast the weather activity in the southeast coast to continue for the next 48-72 hours. Several places along the coast like Kanyakumari, Karaikal, Madurai, Thiruchirapalli and Coimbatore will receive rain. Isolated rainfall activity is also possible in the state capital Chennai and Vellore. Early morning and the late evening hours is when the people will witness rain.
Due to the rainfall activity, the day temperature is going to drop in the region which will provide marginal relief from the warm and humid condition.
