Rain in Tamil Nadu, Kerala likely today; to reduce thereafter

South India has been witnessing dry weather conditions for a long time now and only light rainfall activity has been seen on just about a few occasions. This is the time when absolutely mild weather conditions prevail over the peninsular region with slight weather activities only. In fact, there have been isolated rains over Tamil Nadu region in the last 24 hours.

In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Atiramapattinam has recorded moderate showers of 17 mm while Cuddalore saw traces of rains.

Now, today, some rainfall is likely over both interiors and coastal parts of Tamil Nadu and adjoining regions of Kerala. Isolated rainfall may be seen in other parts of South India as well. Thereafter, weather conditions will become dry over the southern region.

While North India continues to see a wintry touch in terms of rain and snow in the hills and some rains over the plains, Pre Monsoon commences over South India in the month of March. Therefore, rains, thunderstorms, change in winds as well as in temperatures are observed.

The states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, South Interior Karnataka and Rayalaseema which observe Pre-Monsoon conditions and the activities associated with it.
