Rainfall activity has already decreased over most parts of Tamil Nadu. However, during the last 24 hours, in wake of the trough of low over Comorin-Maldives region and adjoining equatorial Indian Ocean, isolated light to moderate rainfall activity occurred over the southern districts of Tamil Nadu.
In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Monday, Valparai recorded 20.6 mm of rain, followed by Palayamkottai 10.0 mm, Pamban 2.8 mm, Adiramapatnam 2.3 mm, Kanyakumari 0.4 mm and Thoothukudi 0.3 mm.
Now, we expect rainfall activity to decrease significantly over entire southern peninsula including the state of Tamil Nadu. However, isolated light rains with one or two moderate spells cannot be ruled out over parts of South Tamil Nadu and Puducherry region.
Rest all parts of Tamil Nadu including the capital city, Chennai will experience dry weather conditions with generally cloudy sky during the next 24 hours. Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 30˚C and 23˚C respectively.
However, December 28 onwards, isolated light rains may once again commence over most parts of South India along with parts of Tamil Nadu. But during that time also rain intensity will remain mostly less. However, these on and off rains are expected to continue till December 29.
