Rain in Siliguri, Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar, Darjeeling

The state of West Bengal saw some good rains which ranged between moderate to heavy. In fact, it was the Sub Himalayan West Bengal which saw hefty rainfall activity during this period.

In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Siliguri recorded 80 mm of rain, followed by Jalpaiguri 55.4 mm, Cooch Behar 26.2 mm, Darjeeling 12 mm, Krishnanagar 6 mm.

A cyclonic circulation is seen persisting over East Bihar and upper air trough is seen extending from this system to South Bangladesh across central parts of West Bengal.

Due the presence of these systems, moderate to heavy rains will continue over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and adjoining region.

Meanwhile, Gangetic West Bengal will be hot and humid. However, isolated places over Gangetic West Bengal may also receive light rain during next 24-48 hours.

Talking about the temperatures over the state, Sub- Himalayan West Bengal is expected to record its maximum temperature between 27-29 degrees and minimums between 22-23 degrees.

On the other hand, places of Gangetic West Bengal will see their day temperatures between 39-41 degrees and night temperatures between 29-30 degrees.

The capital city, Kolkata will remain very hot and humid. Partly cloudy sky will prevail over the city. However, on and off light rains cannot be ruled out.
