Monsoon rains over Jharkhand have not been as they usually are every year. The state has been witnessing deficient rains for quite some time now. In fact, from June 1 to August 5, the state has recorded 435 mm of rains against its average of 591.2 mm of rainfall. Due to this, rainfall deficiency over the state is at -26 percent.
However, the last 24 hours have seen some rainfall over a few parts of Jharkhand. In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Bokaro witnessed 1.2 mm of rains, and Jamshedpur also recorded 1.8 mm of rainfall.
These rainfall activities can be attributed to the presence of a cyclonic circulation which is currently persisting over the Northwest Bay of Bengal. In fact, the system is expected to intensify into a low-pressure area during the next 24 to 48 hours. A trough is extending from this circulation to western parts of Bihar. These systems will move west northwestwards gradually
Thus, moderate to heavy rainfall activities are expected over the entire state of Jharkhand. Some cities may see moderate showers while other are expected to observe heavy showers.
Cities of Jamshedpur, Ranchi, Simedga, Ramgarh, Chaibasa, Saraikela, and Gumla will see heavy rains.
Meanwhile, Deoghar, Bokaro, Hazaribagh, Daltonganj, are expected to see light to moderate showers.
