Rain in Rajasthan to bring relief from heatwave like conditions

June 23, 2015 1:03 PM | Skymet Weather Team

Heatwave conditions were prevailing over Central, North, and West Rajasthan till June 21. Though heatwave conditions have abated since then, but even then, many areas in the region are still recording day temperatures exceeding 40°C.

Skymet Meteorology Division in India had reiterated that these conditions will gradually subside due to a low pressure area over northeast Arabian Sea which will give strong moist south-westerly winds over the region.

Now that low pressure area has intensified into a depression. Furthermore, the system is likely to become a deep depression and it will then move in east-northeast direction.

Initially the system will affect Gujarat in terms of heavy rain, but later on, it will reach Rajasthan and give rain and thundershowers at many places. Simultaneously, a Western Disturbance will also start affecting North India, and a north-south trough will form, which is expected to give fairly widespread thundershowers across Rajasthan.

After 24 hours, ongoing heatwave like conditions in Rajasthan will subside. A fall of about 3 to 5°C in day temperatures is expected in the region. The drop in temperatures will bring some much needed respite over the next two days.
