Pre Monsoon activity to continue in Punjab, Haryana

May 13, 2019 7:23 PM | Skymet Weather Team

The states of Punjab as well as Haryana have been witnessing weather activities for the past two to three days. Thundershowers, dust storm, as well as winds have been witnessed over these areas.

These weather activities can be attributed to the presence of a Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir. Its induced Cyclonic Circulation is over Northwest Rajasthan and adjoining Pakistan.

Due to these weather activities, maximum temperatures are now settling either at normal levels or below the normal levels.

Moreover, in the coming days, there are chances of more of these Western Disturbances making an appearance. In fact, these systems will also induce Cyclonic Circulations.

Therefore, in the coming two to three days, most places of Punjab as well as Haryana will be seeing some rain, thunderstorm, dust storm, winds as well as lightning strikes over these areas.

Due to these weather systems, the temperatures will be on the lower side and maximum temperatures will continue to settle below the  normal levels or very close to the normal ones.

Rainfall activity is likely to subside after May 15, after which temperatures will begin to rise once again. Pre Monsoon activity usually remains on the peak for the North Indian states during the months of April as well as May.
