Rain in Punjab, Haryana likely by tomorrow; last Monsoon showers for this season

Punjab post

Punjab and Haryana have been experiencing dry weather conditions since last many days. In fact, dry winds from west/northwest direction have reduced moisture content over both the states, making the sky clear and sun bright.

During the last 24 hours, day temperatures over both these were recorded in the mid-30, which led to warm and dry weather conditions. Meanwhile, night remained normal.

Now a deep-depression is seen over West central Bay of Bengal. It is further expected to move in west/northwest direction. Due to its influence, wind direction over Punjab and Haryana will change from northwest to southeast.

We also expect clouds to start forming by tomorrow and scattered rains may commence over eastern parts of both these states by the night of September 21.

On September 22 and September 23, we expect rain intensity/spread to increase and few moderate showers will isolated heavy spells are possible during this time.

By September 25, this weather system will fizzle out and rainfall activity will then decrease significantly. Hence, weather conditions over Punjab and Haryana will once again go dry and warm. Humid easterly winds will also get replaced by dry westerly winds.

This will also be the last rainy spells of Southwest Monsoon season 2018 for Punjab and Haryana.
