As reiterated by Skymet Weather, many parts of Maharashtra have witnessed light to moderate rains, particularly cities of Nagpur, Akola, Nashik, Pune, and Mumbai.
Now, the confluence zone is still persisting over Maharashtra region. Also, a trough is extending from North east Arabian Sea up to North Maharashtra coast. Therefore, rains are expected to continue today as well in many parts of Maharashtra.
Now, rain activities will be more over Madhya Maharashtra, South Konkan and Goa as well as Vidarbha along with parts of Marathwada. However, North Madhya Maharashtra will get isolated rains or cloudy weather only.
Thus, cities of Sangli, Satara, Sindhudurg, Pune, and Aurangabad, Nagpur, Akola, Amravati, Latur, Beed, Ratnagiri, Osmanabad may receive scattered rains. Meanwhile, weather of Jalgaon will remain mostly dry. Isolated light rain or thunderstorm activity cannot be ruled out over Mumbai as well.
By tomorrow, rains will reduce significantly, and only isolated rains may be seen in southern parts of Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and eastern parts of Vidarbha. By December 28, rains will completely subside over Maharashtra and weather will clear up.
Thus, gradual fall in minimum temperatures is expected due to the commencement of northwesterly winds. Yesterday, smog was observed over many parts of Mumbai too. Northeasterly cold winds at upper levels were overlying southwesterly humid winds. Thus, the mixture of these opposite winds led to shallow fog and upper haze.
