Both the cities of Mumbai and Pune lie at a very close distance of a mere 150 km, however, as far as the weather conditions are concerned, a lot of variability is seen over these areas. Mumbai lies on the upside of the Western Ghats while Pune is on the lee side.
Rains are on the lesser side for the city of Pune while Mumbai observes hefty Monsoon rains. In fact, humidity, temperatures, all of them vary in these cities.

Monsoon arrives a day or two in the city as compared to Mumbai. Thus, Pre-Monsoon activity also begin before over Pune and a little later in Mumbai.
The months of April and May see extremely high maximum temperatures over Pune which even exceed the 40-degree mark on quite a few occasions. However, the smell of Monsoon causes a drop in temperatures. Conditions are quite good in terms of weather towards the evening and night.
Southwest Monsoon is around the corner for Pune and is expected to make an onset around June 8. In anticipation of Monsoon, Pre-Monsoon activity has commenced over the city of Pune after a dry spell of about a month.
Rains and thundershowers have commenced over the city of Pune along with strong winds due to which the maximum has dropped from a whopping 39 degrees to 32 degrees. Further drop in temperatures is expected as these rains will continue for another hour or so.
These on and off rains are expected to continue over Pune for a few more days until Monsoon makes an onset over the region.
