Rain in Pasighat, Dibrugarh, Tuensang; cloudy sky to persist

It looks like rain gods have been far too kind with the northeastern region of the country, as the ‘seven sisters’ have been witnessing rains for quite some time now. The last 24 hours were also of not much difference as parts of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh recorded light rain and thundershowers. Isolated areas also witnessed showers of moderate intensity.

In a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Sunday, Pasighat recorded rains to the tune of 15 mm, Tinsukia 6 mm, North Lakhimpur 5 mm, Dibrugarh 3 mm, Itanagar and Jorhat each recorded rains of 1 mm. All thanks to the Western Disturbance which is moving across East Tibetan region and its induced cyclonic circulation over Assam and neighbourhood.

The combined effect of these systems will continue to influence the weather conditions over northeastern parts of the country. So, similar weather will persist during the next 24 to 48 hours as well. The sky conditions would remain cloudy to partly cloudy over the mentioned regions.

According to Skymet Weather, scattered light to moderate rain and thundershowers are expected to continue over East Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and northern parts of Nagaland during the next 24 hours as well. These showers are anticipated to be of short duration only.

Besides this, day temperatures are expected to fall by two to three degrees, whereas night temperatures will increase slightly. Days will continue to stay slightly warm over the northeastern states while nights would be cool and comfortable.
