Cyclonic storm Gaja has been lashing good rains in South India especially the state of Tamil Nadu and Kerala along with southern parts of Karnataka. In fact, during the last 24 hours, moderate rains with isolated heavy showers occurred over many districts of South Karnataka. Meanwhile, only isolated pockets of North Karnataka witnessed rainfall activity.
In span of 24 hours, isolated rains were also observed in few parts of the capital city, Bengaluru.
As predicted by skymet weather, now the deep-depression lies over Southeast Arabian Sea about 200 km east of Aminidivi. Another cyclonic circulation lies over Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining equator. This system may further intensify in to a low-pressure area.
In wake of these weather systems, we expect rainfall activity to gear up further over most parts of South Karnataka and scattered areas of North Karnataka. However, few heavy spells may also occur along the coastal regions of Karnataka.
Furthermore, these rains are expected to continue for the next 48 hours and reduce significantly after that. Both day and night temperatures have also dropped significantly over most parts of Karnataka.
