The coastal parts of Andhra Pradesh have been receiving good rainfall activity in wake of cyclonic storm Gaja. Meanwhile, the northern parts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana remained mainly dry.
During the last 24 hours also, light to moderate rains were recorded over many districts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh.
In Andhra Pradesh, Ongole and Vijayawada recorded 23 mm of rain, followed by Nellore 16 mm, Bapatla 13 mm, Kavali 9 mm, Masulipatnam 8 mm, Nandyal 6 mm, Anantapur 2.2 mm and Kurnool 1.4 mm.
At present, a cyclonic circulation lies over southeast and adjoining equator. It is likely to move in a west/northwest direction and may become a low-pressure area by tomorrow evening over South central Bay of Bengal.
In association with this weather system, we expect rains to once again commence over the coastal parts of Andhra Pradesh and isolated pockets of South Telangana during the next 24 hours. However, after 48 hours, rains will increase significantly over south coastal stations of Andhra Pradesh.
Further between November 20 and 22, heavy rains are likely over isolated places of south coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema.
