Rain in offing for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh

March 5, 2017 1:14 PM | Skymet Weather Team

Since last many days, heatwave like conditions have been prevailing over Telangana and parts of Andhra Pradesh. So much so that the maximum temperatures were settling above normal over these areas.

The reason for this high day temperatures can be attributed to the prolonged dry spell and absence of any significant weather activity over the region. However, some relief is foreseen from this existing hot and uneasy weather conditions.

As per meteorologist at Skymet weather, now that the Wind Discontinuity has developed over Chhattisgarh and extended up to Karnataka, we can expect humid winds from Bay of Bengal as well as Arabian Sea to converge over Telangana. With this, formation of clouds will take place, thus resulting in subsequent rain activity.

Besides, a feeble trough is also developing over Coastal Andhra Pradesh. Due to this, scattered rain and thundershowers will occur over the region for the next few days. These on and off rain and thundershowers are likely to continue throughout the next week.

While drop in maximum temperatures are likely due to the cloud cover, change in wind direction and rain activity. On the other hand, minimum temperatures may see an upward trend by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius over Telangana and parts of Andhra Pradesh.
