Rain in Northeast India to continue for another 24 hours

During the last 24 hours, rainfall activity was observed in many parts of Northeast India. In fact, scattered light to moderate rains were recorded in Assam, Meghalaya and Tripura. Meanwhile, rest all other states received light rains with one or two moderate showers over isolated places.

In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Monday, Silchar recorded 28 mm of rain, Pasighat 27 mm, Goalpara and North Lakhimpur 12 mm, Agartala, Guwahati, Tezpur and Kailashahar 6 mm, Dibrugarh 3 mm.

At present, a cyclonic circulation is persisting over Assam and adjoining region. Moreover, the northeastern parts of the country also receive rains due to the eastward’s movement of Western Disturbances. As after giving rains over the Western Himalayas sometimes Western Disturbances move along the foothills towards northeastern states and give rains.

Thus, now we expect scattered moderate showers with few light spells to continue over the northeastern states for another 24 hours.

Thereafter weather will once again become dry and this dry spell will continue for at least next two to three days. Day temperatures will rise once again. However, the minimums will fall marginally.
