As predicted by Skymet Weather, widespread moderate rainfall activity was recorded over the northeastern states of Tripura, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, East Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Friday, Pasighat recorded 49 mm of rain, followed by Silchar 37 mm, Goalpara 21.4 mm, Itanagar 20.3 mm, North Lakhimpur and Lengpui 15.6 mm, Kailashahar 15. 2mm, Cherrapunji 7.6 mm, Lumding 7 mm, Dibrugarh 6 mm, Imphal 5.5 mm, Jorhat 4.4 mm, Golaghat and Mazbat 1.4 mm, Dhubri 0.7 mm and Guwahati 0.1 mm.
Now the well-marked low-pressure area which was over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh has weakened moved away towards Northeast India.
Thus, we can say that moderate rains with strong gusty winds will continue over the states of Tripura, Manipur and Mizoram during the next 12 to 24 hours as well. Meanwhile, only scattered light rains will occur over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya and Nagaland.
Light rains are also expected to occur in parts of Sikkim and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal.
Further, as this system is likely to weaken, we expect the weather conditions in Northeast India to improve and rainfall activity to decrease after 24 hours.
