Pune Rains

The state of Maharashtra has been witnessing good rains for the last 24 to 48 hours. In fact, in a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Aurangabad recorded 17 mm, wherein Nashik saw a good 30 mm of rains. In the same time frame, Jalgaon recorded 24 mm of rainfall., Pune 6 mm, Mahabaleshwar 5 mm, Kolhapur 5 mm, Satara 3 mm.

These rains can be attributed to the effect of Cyclone Kyarr, wherein strong and moist southwesterly winds coming from the Arabian Sea, continue to feed moisture over Maharashtra leading to enhancement of cloud formation and subsequent rainmfall.

Now, as per weathermen at Skymet Weather, on and off rainfall activities are expected to continue over Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Vidarbha for another 24 to 48 hours. Moreover, a confluence zone is also forming as humid winds from Arabian Sea are merging with dry northerly winds from the northern parts.

Thus, more rains are in the offing for North Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha and Marathwada. Light rains may be seen in parts of South Madhya Maharashtra as well. Thus, cities of Nagpur, Akola, Amravati, Aurangabad, Nashik, Jalgaon, and Pune, Sangli, Satara, Kolhapur for next 24 to 48 hours. Thereafter, the weather will start clearing up as the effect of Cyclone Kyarr will fade away.
