A cyclonic circulation is over Sub Himalayan West Bengal and adjoining areas. A trough is also extending from this system towards Manipur across Assam and Meghalaya.
Due to this, moderate rains with isolated heavy spells were witnessed over Assam and Meghalaya. Meanwhile, light to moderate rains were witnessed over rest all other states. In fact, Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim also received moderate to heavy rains.
In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Friday, Kalimpong recorded 53 mm of rain, followed by Cooch Behar 27 mm, Dhubri 22 mm, Goalpara 16 mm, Tezpur 5 mm, Mazbat 4 mm and Guwahati 3 mm.
Further as this system still persists, rainfall activity will increase over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura as all these states will witness moderate rainfall activity along with isolated heavy showers.
Meanwhile, rains will reduce over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya and only light to moderate rains will be observed over these states.
Due to the northeasterly wind blowing over the region, we expect day temperatures in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh to jump up significantly.
However, after the next 24 hours, rains will decrease over almost all parts of Northeast India and will once again pick up pace when another system marks its onset.
