Light to moderate rains with few heavy spells have occurred over many parts of Vidarbha and along the coast. In fact, good rains also occurred over South Madhya Maharashtra.

In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Friday, Mumbai’s Santacruz observatory recorded 20 mm of rain, followed by Colaba observatory at 7 mm, other places like Thane recorded 58.4 mm of rain, Sholapur 47.9 mm, Mahabaleshwar 44.6 mm, Vengurla 38 mm, Alibagh 36 mm, Akola 26.8 mm, Ratnagiri 25.5 mm, Harnai 23 mm, Nagpur 17.9 mm, Jalgaon 6 mm.

These rains are likely to continue mainly in light to moderate intensity for the next 48 hours.

The off-shore trough extending from Gujarat Coast to Kerala Coast is likely to weaken further, as a cyclonic circulation which has formed over Northeast Arabian Sea may pull the trough towards the Sea.

Therefore, we expect rainfall activity to reduce over Vidarbha, Marathwada and North Madhya Maharashtra. South Madhya Maharashtra will continue with light to moderate spells at some places.

in fact, along the Maharashtra Coast also rainfall activities will reduce. However, light to moderate rains will with isolated heavy spells over South Konkan cannot be ruled out.

Further, these activities are likely to revive by July 2nd and mainly along the Coast. Thus, we can say rains may increase further from July 2nd evening.
