The state of Maharashtra, particularly the coastal parts have seen some intense showers in the past 24 hours, as Monsoon 2018 has made an onset over most parts of Maharashtra.

In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Ratnagiri saw 271 mm of rains, Colaba in Mumbai recorded 164 mm while Santa Cruz saw 100 mm rains, Vengurla recorded 134 mm of rans, Harnai 89 mm, Nanded 47 mm, Nagpur 67 mm, Wardha 55 mm, Chandrapur 17 mm, Washim 20 mm, and Amravati 19 mm.
The off shore continues to persist extending from North Maharashtra coast to Kerala coast. The northern limit of Southwest Monsoon is passing through northern parts of Maharashtra. Moist winds from Arabian Sea are reaching up to Maharashtra. Thus, light to moderate rains are expected over Marathwada and Vidarbha region.
In fact, heavy to heavy rains are expected over South Maharashtra coast. Meanwhile, North Maharashtra coast which includes Mumbai will see light to moderate rains. Warm and humid weather will persist over North Madhya Maharashtra with isolated light rains occurring over some parts. However, south Madhya Maharashtra may see moderate rains.
Cities of Ratnagiri, Harnai, Vengurla, Alibag will witness heavy rains with Mumbai expected to see moderate showers. Cities of Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara, Nagpur, Gondia, Bhandara, Yavatmal, Chandrapur may also record moderate rains. Meanwhile, Wardha, Akola, Amravati, Washim will have to settle with light rains.
