The entire state of Maharashtra including Mumbai, have been witnessing varying intensity of rains since the onset on Southwest Monsoon. In fact, many heavy spells have been witnessed by Mumbai and nearby areas due to the off-shore trough along the West Coast. Meanwhile, quite a few times the weather remained dry as well, but on and off light rains did not disappear at all.

Currently also rainfall activity is going on over the city of Mumbai and many other districts of Maharashtra. During the last 24 hours also, many places in Maharashtra have witnessed extremely heavy spells of rain. Matheran recorded extremely heavy 3-digit rain to the tune of 264 mm.
In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday, Ratnagiri recorded heavy rain to the tune of 210 mm, followed by Harnai 134 mm, Dahanu 91 mm, Sholapur 54 mm, Akola 40.2 mm, Alibagh 49 mm, Jeur 20 mm, Amravati 5.2 mm, Parbhani 37 mm, Vengurla 25 mm, Nasik 4 mm, Sangli 5 mm, Aurangabad 0.6 mm.
However, talking particularly about the capital city of Maharashtra, Mumbai’s Colaba observatory recorded 10 mm of rain, followed by Santa Cruz observatory at 16 mm.
Further, due to the active surge rainfall activity is likely to increase along the West Coast. Moderate to heavy rains along with few extremely heavy spells may occur over North Konkan including Mumbai.
Meanwhile, southern parts of Maharashtra will continue with moderate to heavy rains. Rainfall may also increase over North Madhya Maharashtra and Vidarbha.
Mostly cloudy to over cast sky and strong winds will prevail. Due to the persistence clouding, day temperatures are likely to drop over the area. The coastal areas may witness high waves as well.
