Rain in Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Kolhapur to increase soon

Mumbai rains have reduced in intensity after heavy showers had been lashing the capital city of Maharashtra in the beginning of the week. Moderate showers were seen over Mumbai during the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, some parts of the state of Maharashtra have recorded heavy rains during the same time frame.

In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Thane saw heavy spells of 58 mm, Sholapur recorded a whopping 48 mm of rains, Akola 27 mm, Vengurla 38 mm, Mahabaleshwar 45 mm, Washim 21 mm, Mumbai 20 mm, Ratnagiri 25 mm, Harnai 23 mm, Alibagh 36 mm. Meanwhile, traces of rains were seen over Pune, while Nashik remained dry.

The off-shore trough along the West Coast were responsible for rains over the coastal parts of Maharashtra and its adjoining areas. On the other hand, the cyclonic circulation over West Madhya Pradesh gave rains over areas adjoining to Madhya Pradesh.

Now, during the next 24 hours, rains will be moderate over Madhya Maharashtra as well as the Konkan region. Mumbai is expected to see light to moderate rains during the same time frame.

However, rain intensity is expected to increase over most parts of Maharashtra including Mumbai July 3 onward. Thus, cities of Mumbai, Pune, Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli, Nashik and Ahmednagar may see good spells of rains. Some parts may also observe a few heavy spells during this period.
