Since the last many days, dry and hot weather with mainly clear sky conditions have been prevailing over Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha region. On the other hand, coastal parts of Maharashtra are experiencing very warm and humid weather with clear sky conditions.
The state of Maharashtra has been reeling under dry weather conditions since the beginning of May, except few pockets of Vidarbha and South Madhya Maharashtra, that were lucky enough to experience occasional showers.
At present, dry north-westerlies are prevailing over the state. In wake of these winds, Vidarbha region is experiencing heat wave conditions. Moreover, in the absence of any significant weather system, we expect dry weather to continue over the state for next two to three days.
Due to high temperatures, the farmers are advised to take precautions from heat and direct sunshine affecting their crops, particularly, pomegranate, papaya, orange and grapes.

According to Skymet Weather, Maharashtra will observe a slight relief from the ongoing dry weather around May 24. This is because an upper air Trough is expected to developed along the Konkan coast around May 22. This Trough will further extend up to North Coastal Maharashtra. In wake of this system, clouding will increase over South Coastal Maharashtra and spell of light rain and thundershowers may begin over the state May 24 onwards.
Places like Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri, Harnai, Kolaba and Mumbai will find relief from hot and dry weather due to upcoming rains.
However, rest parts of the state will continue to experience hot and dry weather. Heat wave would prevail over the region of Vidarbha for coming one week.
