Rain in Maharashtra to subside, winter effect likely in Vidarbha now

December 27, 2019 12:20 PM |

Maharashtra Weather

During last 24 hours, isolated light rains were seen over parts of Maharashtra. Pune, Nashik and Nagpur recorded light to very light rainfall. These rains have been attributed to the confluence zone, which has been persisting over parts of Maharashtra and Central India herein northwesterly cold winds have been merging with humid southeasterly winds coming from the Bay of Bengal.

Now, this confluence zone has moved towards East India due to which, we expect that the weather is expected to become dry over the entire state of Maharashtra. Minimum temperatures here will start dropping, particularly over the northern parts of Maharashtra including Vidarbha, North Madhya Maharashtra, and parts of Konkan and Goa including Mumbai, Thane, Dahanu, Nashik, Jalgaon, Nagpur, Akola, Amravati and other adjoining areas.

The drop in temperatures will be due to the commencement of northerly, northeasterly winds from the Western Himalayas and day temperatures may increase marginally over Vidarbha and adjoining areas as they have dropped by 5 to 8 degrees in the last 24 hours, because of rainfall and cloud cover.

There is expected to be marginal increase in the day temperatures whereas minimums will drop by 2-3 degrees in the next 2-3 days leading to mild winters in some parts.
