Extremely hot conditions had gripped Maharashtra till a few days back. But light rain at some places with heavy in pockets had pulled down the day temperature in the region marginally. However, the maximums have again risen to record season’s highest at some places.
For instance,Nagpursaw the day temperature settle at 44.7°C on Friday, which is the season’s highest day temperature so far. Similarly,Akolarecorded 44.8°C as the maximum on Friday, which is also the highest maximum of the season.
The rise in temperature is about 3-4 degrees. For example, Nagpur on May 4 had saw the day temperature settle at 40.5°C, which is almost 4 degrees below the Friday maximum of 44.7°C. Akola too has been seeing a gradual rise in the day temperature.
But with forecast of light rain from May 10 onwards, the weather in the region is going to cool down a little. Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada regions will observe the first spell of rain, while Vidarbha will receive rain on May 11. This spell will become widespread from May 13 and continue to give rain in the region till May 15.
However, it is to be noted that the intensity of rain will remain light throughout and temperatures will only be affected marginally.
Around the same time, May 11, most parts of the country are expected to receive rain due to various weather systems forming in different parts of the country. A western Disturbance in Jammu and Kashmir is likely to give rain in North India from May 11, while a cyclonic circulation emerging off the coast of Tamil Nadu will give rain in South India.
