Scattered pre-Monsoon activities are going on over East India. At present, a trough is extending from Punjab to the foothills of Bihar. With the effect of this trough and the humid winds from the Bay of Bengal, East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and southern parts of Jharkhand, have been witnessing scattered light to moderate rain and thundershower activity.

In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Tuesday, Chaibasa recorded 36 mm of rain, followed by Varanasi 17 mm, Bokaro 17.2 mm, Gorakhpur 7.2 mm, Patna 7.0 mm, Jamshedpur 4.4 mm, Bhagalpur 2 mm and Allahabad 1 mm of rains. In fact, Ranchi also observed few drops of rains.

As per Skymet Weather, we expect rains and thundershower activity to continue over East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and southern parts of Jharkhand during the next three to four days. All three capital cities of these states, Lucknow, Patna and Ranchi are also likely to experience pre-Monsoon activities during the same time frame.

Despite rains in some places, the day temperatures are settling above the normal in these states. Mercury in Lucknow, Patna and Ranchi are running 3 to 4 degrees above normal.

During the next two to three days, the day temperature will continue to record high maximums despite the rains. Apart from this, increased humidity levels will lead to high discomfort.
