Rain in Lucknow, Kanpur, Allahabad, Sultanpur expected

The state of Uttar Pradesh has been seeing a few heavy rains for the past 24 to 48 hours. Just a day ago, Meerut saw record breaking rains of 226 mm while the last 24 hours also had some places witnessing three-digit rainfall.

During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Najibabad saw 106 mm of rains, Hardoi observing a massive 59 mm of rains, Aligarh 27.6 mm, Allahabad 15.9 mm, Banda 9.2 mm, Bareilly 19.8 mm, Gorakhpur 9 mm, Lucknow 12.8 mm, Meerut 17 mm, Moradabad 29.2 mm.

The reason for these rains is attributed to the feeble low pressure over Northwest Uttar Pradesh. The axis of Monsoon trough is also running across North Uttar Pradesh. Also, a cyclonic circulation is over Bihar and adjoining East Uttar Pradesh. Thus, warm and moist winds are blowing over the state.

During next 24 hours, heavy to very heavy rains are expected over Southeast Uttar Pradesh, while other parts of the state will see light to moderate rains.

Cities of Sultanpur, Allahabad, Mirzapur, Johnpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Kaushambi, Pratapgarh, and Kanpur, will see heavy to very heavy rains. Meanwhile, moderate rains are expected over Gorakhpur, Lucknow, Chitrakoot, Gonda, Basti, Barabanki.

On the other hand, Southwest Uttar Pradesh will see decrease in rains and increase in temperatures.

Moderate to heavy rain is expected over Allahabad, Ambedkar Nagar, Amethi, Auraiya, Azamgarh, Badaun, Bahraich, Ballia, Balrampur, Banda, Bara Banki, Bareilly, Basti, Chandauli, Chitrakoot, Deoria, Etah, Etawah, Faizabad, Farrukhabad, Fatehpur, Ghazipur, Gonda, Gorakhpur, Hamirpur, Hardoi, Jalaun, Jaunpur, Jhansi, Jyotiba Phule Nagar, Kannauj, Kanpur Dehat, Kanpur Nagar, Kanshiram Nagar, Kaushambi, Kheri, Kushinagar, Lucknow, Mahoba, Mahrajganj, Mainpuri, Mau, Mirzapur, Moradabad, Pilibhit, Pratapgarh, Rae Bareli, Rampur, Sambhal, Sant Kabir Nagar, Sant Ravidas Nagar (Bhadohi), Shahjahanpur, Siddharthnagar, Sitapur, Sonbhadra, Sultanpur, Unnao and Varanasi during next 24 hours
