The last 24 hours were also not any different and good rains were observed over both these states. In fact, isolated places even saw some heavy showers during this period. During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Kannur recorded 82 mm of rains, Kanyakumari saw 55 mm of rains.

Other places to have recorded some good rains include Kozhikode 33 mm, Kodaikanal 27 mm, Kochi 8 mm. Traces of rains were also seen in Alappuzha and Palakkad.

These rains have been attributed to the presence of a cyclonic circulation over the Comorin region. Along with this, a trough is also extending from this system up to North Interior Karnataka.

With this, light to moderate rains are expected to continue over both these states for the next 24 hours or so. Isolated places may also see some heavy showers as well.

Cities of Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Kanyakumari, Koadaikanal, Coonoor, Udhagamandalam, Dindigul, Coimbatore, Thrissur, Kollam, Alappuzha, Idukki, Kannur, and Kozhikode will also receive some rainfall.

Thereafter, the system is expected to move westwards which would further result in decrease in rainfall activities over these areas.
