At present, East and West Rajasthan rain deficient with the eastern region observing a deficinency of -6% and western part being rain deficient by 17%.
During the last 24 hours, East Rajasthan has received light to moderate rains while most parts of West Rajasthan still remained dry. Now, the axis of monsoon trough is extending via South Punjab and Haryana. Due to this feature, we expect moderate showers with one or two heavy spells to occur over eastern districts of Rajasthan for the next 48 hours including cities of Jhalawar, Kota, Bundi, Baran, Sawai Madhopur, Dhaulpur, Bharatpur, Dasau and Karauli. Isolated light rains may occur over Jaipur as well.
On the other hand, weather of West Rajasthan is expected to remain dry including Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Barmer, Jalore and Pali. This dry spell means that the rain deficiency of West Rajasthan will increase further. However, due to the upcoming rains, rain deficiency of East Rajasthan may come down to some extent.
During this time period, day temperatures of East Rajasthan will be in the lower 30s and nights will also be comfortable. As it happens usually, monsoon starts withdrawing from the state of Rajasthan September 1 onward, but we have to wait and see the exact date of actual withdrawal of monsoon from Rajasthan this time.
