Hot weather conditions are prevailing over the interior parts of Odisha since the last many days. But light to moderate rain and thundershower activities with strong winds associated with heavy showers occurred in central parts of Odisha during the last 24 hours.
These weather conditions occurred over the state, due to the presence of an upper air trough which is extending from Bihar to Odisha.
Since this upper air trough would be persisting during the next 48 to 72 hours as well. We expect spell of rain and thundershowers to affect over scattered places of the state between May 12 and 15.
Places like Koraput, Raigarh, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Ganjam, Gajapati, Angul, Jagatsinghpur and Cuttack will experience these weather activities. Due to the occurrence of rainfall and clouding, day temperatures would be slightly decreasing in these places.
However, due to prevalence of warm and moist southwesterly winds, northwestern and coastal parts of Odisha such as Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Bhubaneshwar and Puri will remain dry and hot.
Further, from May 16, as the weather systems will weaken, weather conditions will also start improving from most parts of the state and day temperatures will increase.
