The festive season is finally blessing the state of Maharashtra in the form of heavy and scattered rains occurring over many districts of the state. After a prolonged period of dry spell, the residents of Maharashtra have finally got a relief from the scorching heat.

Since October 1, the weather of Maharashtra was continuously being dry, almost to an alarming rate, resulting into high rain deficiency over almost all the districts of the state. The people were battling with drought like conditions.

Notably, Vidarbha was largely rain deficient by 99%, Marathwada by 85%, Madhya Maharashtra by 75% and Konkan & Goa by 69%, but the mother nature finally showered its blessing over the state.

Surprisingly, heavy rain occurred over Solapur district of Maharashtra while scattered rains were observed over many districts of Madhya Maharashtra such as Sangli, Kolhapur and Ratnagiri. Konkan & Goa also received light showers giving the residents a reason to celebrate.

At present, a cyclonic circulation can be seen over South Madhya Maharashtra which might increase the rain intensity marginally over the area, but this intensity will remain confined only to southern districts particularly Sangli, Satara and Kolhapur.  This means in the other parts, rain deficiency would still persist. However, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg and Mahabaleshwar might receive one or two spells of rain.

On the other hand , the weather of North Konkan, North Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha and some parts of Marathwada will still continue to remain dry and warm. Thus, residents here need to wait a little more to celebrate this festive season with cool and pleasant atmosphere.
