Rain in Kolkata to remain on backseat

October 19, 2018 4:14 PM | Skymet Weather Team

Moderate to heavy showers occurred over Kolkata between Oct 10 and 14. Even the festivities of Durga Puja started amid heavy rains. These rains were due to the influence of Cyclone Titli which later weakened and moved toward Northeast India and then reduced over Kolkata.

Since then, the weather of Kolkata is dry. Both day and night temperatures are near normal. Monthly average of rainfall for Kolkata is 180.5 mm for the month of October. Until now around 51mm of in occurred over the city. And now there is no significant weather system over West Bengal. Therefore, we do not expect any weather activity over the city for at least next 10 days.

Looking at the weather scenario of coming days we can say that Kolkata will not reach its monthly average. Chances of rains are very less and weather is expected to remain sunny and warm throughout the month. Temperatures may fall by 1 to 2 degree Celsius by the end of next week, but the maximums will be between 31 to 33 degree Celsius. October to end on a Deficient note.

As Kolkata is near the vicinity of the sea therefore sultry weather will continue over the city. Night will be comfortable. Day will remain warm and humid. No relief in sight from warm and humid weather conditions any soon.
