The city of joy is enjoying the most awaited festival of the year, Durga Puja. Streets are bustling with joyous residents enjoying the festive fervor. However, looks like rain gods have something different in store for the ones enjoying the festive season in Kolkata.
The city of joy is at present witnessing a few rainy spells and as per Skymet’s weathermen, more showers of this sort are expected during the next 24 to 48 hours as well. Thus, rain threat looms large over the city of joy during the entire Puja ceremony.
The last 24 hours have also been rainy enough for the city. During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday, Kolkata recorded a good 16 mm of rainfall. In the same time frame, Bagati received 29 mm and Contai witnessed 15 mm of rains.
At present the cyclonic circulation is over Odisha and adjoining West Bengal. Due to this weather system, many areas of West Bengal are already witnessing good rains. Other parts of East India have also recorded a few good spells of rainfall.
The rainfall intensity will remain between light and moderate. However, the possibility of a few isolated spells also cannot be ruled out.
