Due to a depression over Myanmar region, rain intensity has also reduced over Gangetic West Bengal. But we expect light rains with partly cloudy sky over Kolkata and adjoining districts for next 24 hours. Rains will increase thereafter, and one or two moderate spells are also possible.
Although the interior districts such as Bankura and Purulia may receive moderate to heavy rains. But Kolkata will receive comparatively less intense showers.
Talking about the temperatures over Kolkata, Tuesday saw maximum temperatures around normal at 35.6, while minimum settled at 28.6 that was two degrees above normal.
Further also, we expect day temperatures to remain near normal. Meanwhile, minimum temperatures may be marginally above normal on account of high humidity.
As these pre-monsoon showers will be for short duration, thus, we do not expect much relief from the ongoing sultry weather conditions over Kolkata.
Relief would come with the onset of Monsoon over Kolkata and adjoining areas between June 7 and June 9. During that time, Kolkata may receive heavy rainfall activity.
